Joining our database is completely free and allows your profile to be viewed by members and considered for matches with our Premium Matchmaking Clients. Without a membership, you’ll be able to browse and like profiles. Messaging and accessing premium features require a paid membership. Our membership includes a thorough verification process to prioritize safety and authenticity, creating a secure space for meaningful connections with serious and trustworthy individuals.
How do I know if I'm eligible for membership?
To be eligible for membership, you must meet the following criteria:
- You are a Muslim who has been practicing Islam for at least one year.
- You are seeking a halal marriage and are committed to building a faith-centered relationship.
- You have a clean background, with no serious criminal history, including charges related to child abuse or domestic violence.
- You are willing to complete the verification process, which includes a background check, ID verification, and providing references. Sisters must provide their Wali’s contact information.
If you meet these requirements, you’re welcome to join our community and start your journey toward finding a meaningful, faith-based connection.
What if I have a criminal record?
If you have a criminal record, we ask that you disclose it on your profile by selecting the option indicating a criminal history. As part of the verification process for membership, a background check will be conducted. While your results will never be shared with other members, certain offenses—such as charges related to child abuse or domestic violence—will disqualify you from membership to maintain a safe community. For other criminal histories, we only require you to indicate having a record on your profile. Sharing specific details is optional, but honesty is crucial when connecting with potential matches. Transparency fosters trust and genuine connections.
Do I need to be a perfect Muslim to join Maktub?
Absolutely not. No one and nothing is perfect aside from Allah (ﷻ). We’re not here to judge you. Our platform was created to assist Muslims from all walks of life in finding a compatible spouse. While we do ask some pretty personal questions, it’s only to help you find someone who will love you exactly as you are, and with whom you can grow and build a strong bond. By being upfront about who you are, including any differences that may affect compatibility, we aim to help matches make informed decisions.
